Size 2 to 2.5 inch

The Pink Ghost Crayfish is a rare and striking color morph of the Procambarus clarkii species, selectively bred for its translucent pink or pastel coloration. It’s a popular choice among aquarists for its beautiful hue and hardy nature.

🩷 Basic Information

  • Scientific name: Procambarus clarkii (variant: “Pink Ghost”)

  • Common names: Pink Ghost Crayfish, Pink Lobster, Pink Transparent Crayfish

  • Origin: Selective breeding from the Louisiana Crayfish (Procambarus clarkii)

  • Size: 4–5 inches (10–13 cm) when fully grown

  • Lifespan: 2–3 years (up to 4 with excellent care)

  • Behavior: Territorial and semi-aggressive, especially with its own kind

🌿 Tank Requirements

  • Tank size: Minimum 15–20 gallons for one adult

  • Substrate: Fine sand or smooth gravel for burrowing

  • Hiding spots: Essential — add caves, driftwood, rocks, and plants

  • Water temperature: 20–26°C (68–79°F)

  • pH level: 6.5–7.8

  • Hardness: 6–15 dGH

  • Filtration: Strong and stable — crayfish produce a lot of waste

  • Lighting: Moderate — too bright light can stress them

🦐 Tank Mates

  • Best alone — they can attack fish or other invertebrates.

  • If you want to try tank mates, choose:

    • Fast, upper-level fish (like danios or guppies)

    • Avoid slow or bottom dwellers (corydoras, snails, loaches — they’ll be attacked)

  • Never house two crayfish together unless you have a very large, well-decorated tank with multiple hiding spots.
